    D) Russia. The Romanov dynasty ruled Russia from 1613 until 1917, when the Russian Revolution overthrew the Tsar Nicholas II and replaced the monarchy with the Soviet Union. World War I was devastating for Russia, who lost millions of lives and took an economic toll on the nation. This created nationwide protests to pull out of the war, which Russia eventually did. The Romanovs however, proved inefficient at meeting the demands of the serfs who created an uprising and overthrew the government.
