The thirteenth amendment to the U. S. Constitution abolished slavery

True; (Proposed on January 31, 1865; ratifies December 18, 1865)

Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

Section 2. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

Ok so I am guessing what did it do. The thirteenth amendment abolished slavery in the United States and it provided Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude except for a punishment or crime.
