The Civil Rights movement was the movement spearheaded by African-Americans during the 1960’s. The goal of this movement was to gain political, economic, and social equality in American society. African Americans were constantly mistreated in US society and denied basic rights like the right to vote. These laws resulted in unequal opportunities for African Americans.
