What resources did adolf hitler want to capture by attacking the southern soviet union?

It would be the oil fields especially the Romanian oil fields that if captured intact would supply the German war machine with a source of oil and fuel. Also capturing it would increase the prestige of the German Empire and would keep the army rolling without importing oil from distant areas that is prone to allied raids.
