He is thought of very inspirational and an extremely important figure in History. Without him, many people would not be treated the same way they are today and he has greatly impacted literature.

Because he teaches in first person with personal memories of how black people were treated when slavery was legal. And also so that we understand that life isn't easy and that we have to work for the things that we want.
