What solution did the international community come up with to handle the large number of homeless jewish refugees?

The UN voted to create the state of Israel in 1948.

Immediately after it was created the new nation was invaded by five Arab states who held that the country belonged to Palestine people. There were numerous wars resulting from this decision.
