In the Tet offensive, there was a major country wide attack on South Vietnam that shocked the U. S/South Vietnam and its allies. The U. S thought that the war was coming to a close and that they were winning but they thought that the Vietcong were ill equipped and had little numbers but the offensive proved otherwise. This was a reason among many why the war became unpopular among U. S citizens because there was a high death ratio, a draft, a lot of money spent and the U. S wasn't finishing the war up so the people thought that they were being lied to.
