What did manifest destiny mean and how did it involve Texas?

Manifest destiny was the 19th-century doctrine or belief that the expansion of the US throughout the American continents was both justified and inevitable. Texas was involved when Mexico broke diplomatic relations with Washington following the annexation of Texas, and continued to claim the Nueces River as the southwestern border of its rebellious province.
