    The correct answer is Both misjudged European power.

    They believed that because a few other Asian colonies managed to chase off the European powers with relative ease that they would be able to do that as well. However, this didn't happen as we know and the struggle for independence turned into a series of wars, both international and civil, with many issues still being felt today.
