How did the Ottoman Empire respond to non-Muslims? It forced them to become Muslim. It offered them freedom of religion. It forced them to go to India. It offered them freedom of speech.

    In general, the Ottoman Empire "offered them freedom of religion" since the Empire was one of the most tolerant empires of the time in that it did not want to cause unnecessary disruptions within the realm.
