    Thousands of English Puritans arrived in Massachusetts bay as they fled persecution in England and this was known as "The Great Migration". The people of England that believed that the transformation of the churches in England were incomplete were known as the Puritans. A small group of Puritans had already migrated and settled in a place in Virginia colony and it started in the year 1618. It was started by Christopher Lawne. Although Christopher Lawne died in the in 1619, but other Puritans followed and started the migration process. In the year 1620 several other Puritans settled in New England.
