Censorship and propaganda were very common tactics among countries during the war to control national support, as well as gain the confidence of allies from other countries. In World War 1, several publications such as the Cheng Pao, which produced over 250, 000 issues, have said to have a huge influence on China declaring war on Germany. Another example is the establishment of the Wellington House in 1914, which is a secret organization in Britain, whose goal was to spread articles that would shine a halo over Britain and counter opposing testimonials from enemies.

Another good example is the 1915 parliamentary publication, known as the "Bryce Report", was published by the British government to justify their war against Germany. Other examples of propaganda during the world war are The English Beast, My Mission to London, La Voix des Ruines, The War Plotters of Wall Street and the War Pictorial.
