    Shakespeare wrote his first works in 1589. Shakespeare was about 25 years old. The monarch at the time was Elizabeth I who was in her 31st year of reign.

    She was Queen Elizabeth I since she was really the Empress of England and Ireland like on November 17, 1558, till she departed in March 24, 1603.
