    Here are some dates and events regarding Andrew Jackson's legacy and Native Americans

    1814-1824 - Jackson negotiates nine different treaties with Native Americans. This results in the US getting land in the southeast part of the country. In exchange, the Native American tribes receive lands in the west.

    1830 - Indian Removal Act is signed - This gives land in the current US states to the federal government. In return, Native Americans are granted land west of the Mississippi River.

    1838-1839 - Trail of Tears - The forced removal of the Cherokee tribe in Georgia forces extreme hardships for this group, as they are forced to leave their native land.
