Why did Popular Sovereignty in Kansas fail? What were the results of this failure?

    Popular sovereignty allowed Kansans to decide for themselves whether or not to allow slavery in the state. The Missouri Compromise had banned slavery in the northern portion of Louisiana Territory ... It meant that the people of the territories would decide if they wanted slavery or not.
