    Protect US citizens and no need for labor: the US turned to isolationism promoting a nativist approach, meaning they became anti-foreigner. Also changes to the economy and migration meant the US had enough labor to fill jobs.

    Fear of anarchy and communism created a push for anti-immigration reform and quotas to be put into place. Also the US had migration take place and African Americans had begun to fill the jobs many immigrants had once filled.
