The system share croppers who didn't own land worked for those who did and in return the land owners got a large quantity of the crops
i think the sharecroppers were trapped by this system as the wages / amount given to the land owners was more than it should have been as the land owners changed heavily but the sharecroppers didn't have a choice but to pay up as they didn't own any land
