    In June of 1754, delegates from several colonies and Iroquois leaders held a meeting in Albany, New York which became known as the Albany Conference.

    During the Conference they came up with the Albany Plan of Union. Proposed by a committee led by Benjamin Franklin, it proposed to unite the colonies to form a federal government. However, it was rejected
