    I was at a disadvantage to the north because the South had a small population of nine million living in the Confederacy and 22 million in the Union another reason why the South was at a disadvantage is because more than one-third of the population was enslaved there for they had fewer people that could be soldiers in the end few factories that could produce weapons and railroad tracks another Supply and from the lack of railroads to move troops and vital supplies some troops died another reason is that most of the factories factories manufactured during the Civil War were in the north not the South also there was a better economy in the North and the South
