How did religion respond to the consumer culture of the 1920s?

    There were movements like the Social Gospel movement who were against and warned against the dangers of materialism. But the most prominent group was of religious modernists who promoted things like the ending of the literal interpretation of the Bible and several aspects like that in order to fully enjoy life in the society of the 1920s.
