The British parliament needed money for the troops so they would protect the colonies. However, because the colonies were kind of broke, they sometimes couldn't pay the tax. Plus, the parliament put taxes on the many things that the colonies love like tea and cards. Many were enraged by this and many events that you should know happened like "The Boston Massacre" and "The Boston Tea Party". Therefore, since both sides were mad at each other for the events that happened, they decided to declare war on each other. Putting the taxes on the American colonies was basically a really bad idea because King George lost his colonies.
