Why did christopher columbus fail to find new trade routes

    Columbus failed to find new trades routes because his initial goal was to sail west and reach India. He obviously did not reach this goal because the Americas existed. When he ran into the Americas, he knew he was in new land and he chose to change his mission. He no longer looks for these trade routes and instead because conquering peoples in the Americas and building forts.
