What was the main purpose of the muslim scholars?

the purpose of these scholars were that after prophet muhammad died the quran had to be written in a proper way without any errors, so all of the scholars who had learnt the quran by heart they wrote it all down in sequence. the main purpose of them was to rite the quran.
