    The Russian architecture followed a tradition that was established in the Eastern Slavic state of Kievan Rus’. Kievan Rus’ were influenced by mixtures of Ukraine, Belarus, and Russian cultures (including architecture). Mixes of Christianity, Byzantine architecture, and Eastern orthodox greatly influenced monumental architectures of the medieval state of Kievan Rus’. After the fall of Kiev, this type of architectural tradition made its way to different principalities of Vladimir-Suzdal, Novgorod, Tsardom states, Russian Empire, Soviet Union, and the modern Russian Federation.
