In contrast to many other states, Missouri, Kentucky, and Maryland had a difficult time deciding witch side to join during the civil war. Why do you think this was so?

    Geographical proximity to the confederacy union

    the main reason why the three states were reluctant to join the union states against the confederacy during the civil war was because of their proximity to the confederacy states that were seeking to secede from the union.
