    Hugo Ball and Emmy Hennings founded Cabaret Voltaire on February 1, 1916 in Zurich, Switzerland. Co-founders included Marcel Janco, Richard Huelsenbeck, Tristan Tzara, Sophie Taeuber-Arp and Jean Arp. It is in this cabaret that the Dadaist Movement was born.

    Cabaret Voltaire provided an avenue for artists in Zurich to showcase their craft. Different forms of art were featured such as spoken word, dance, and music. In nature, most of the artists frequenting the club presented art that are chaotic, brutal, and radical in nature.
