There is only one active descriptive sentence among all these, and that is A. Early civilizations would often use papyrus as a medium for early written documentation of business transactions and scientific discoveries.

However, it is not descriptive, so I'd say that the correct answer is D. none of the above.

B and C are definitely not correct as they are passive, but A is not descriptive, so it is also incorrect, in my opinion at least.
