Why did so many african nations demand independence after world war 1?

    They demanded independence because they were sick of colonial rule and of imperialism. World War one put a strain on their relations because they would have to wage war against each other even though they didn't want to just because they were colonies. They also didn't like the rise of nationalism and wanted their own independent countries that could be governed the way that they wanted.
