How did fur trappers and traders negatively affect the environment of present day upstate New York?

The fur trappers and traders have caused by the rapid decline of the population of the animals like beavers and bears. Furs were used as pelts and are often exported to European countries. These animals are now one of the endangered for extinction.

Aside from the process of trapping animals being cruel and may lead to the death of the animals when animals die, it prevents them from cohabiting which may endanger their species.
