What did the kingdom of israel split?

The Kingdom of Israel was split into two, namely the Kingdom of Israel also known as the Northern Kingdom which covers the cities of Shechem and Samaria, and the Kingdom of Judah also known as the Southern Kingdom which includes Jerusalem. The main reason was that when King Solomon died, his son Rehoboam took his father's throne. However, the tribes in the northern part of Israel refused to submit themselves to Rehoboam and created another kingdom in the north.
