The causes of the revolution was mass dissatisfaction of the people due to British policies that were not designed for the colonies to prosper, but rather to make the British empire, more precisely the British island prosper. The king behaved like the colonies were his own personal playing ground and exploited resources and workers through his mercantilism policies and the people wanted for that to end and to get their own independence.

The effects were that the war broke out because of this dissatisfaction and that the people won their independence making the country a constitutional republic. Together with France they inspired many other countries to get rid of the monarchy system and introduce republic democratic values. They also showed that colonies can gain independence so numerous other colonies started fighting European imperialist forces for independence.
