    The landing of Allied Troops along a 50 mile stretch of coastline in Normandy France to fight the Nazis. General Dwight D Eisenhower declared that " we will not leave with anything less than a victory." They gained a foothold in europe, with the cost of more than 9000 lives of the allied troops. There sacrifice did not go to waste as over 100000 troops went on to defeat Hitler's crack troops, over the stretch of europe.
