Is the federal system the best way to govern the United States?

The Federal system originally created is the best way to govern though this is not what we currently have and is not what was originally intended. The current Federal system is a mistake. The Federal government should only take care of issues that the federal government can handle ex. defense of the nation, international trade agreements, international treaties, etc.
