The English Bill of Rights is an act that the Parliament of England passed on December 16, 1689. The Bill creates separation of powers, limits the powers of the king and queen, enhances the democratic election and bolsters freedom of speech.

The major principles of the English bill of rights consist of: no man is above the law, there shall be no taxes without consent, the people may petition for a redress of grievance, the people have a right to keep and bear arms, elections must be free, the people's representatives must have freedom of speech and neither bail nor fines may be excessive, and punishment may not be cruel.
