They were brought to the Americas. During that period, 12 million slaves were brought to the new continents and colonies, and the mortality rate was between 10 and 20 percent, meaning that out of the 12 million, around 2 million died on the ships while the others often suffered fate worse than death as they were slaves in the new country.
