As Lee sat in Petersburg nearly surrounded by Grant, what was his plan to still win the war? He would suddenly march north and attack Washington, D,. C. He would crush Grant''s forces in a massive frontal assault. He would head north to avoid the much larger Union army. He would try to hook up with General Johnston down south.

    "He would suddenly march north and attack Washington, D,. C." is the best option from the list since this was his plan from the start, but it did not turn out the way he had hoped.
