    Farmer-soldiers

The minutemen were men who were farmers willing to fight for the revolution. They were 'ready in a minute' and as farmers already had a gun and were near battlefield areas.

The minutemen were essential at the beginning of the American Revolution before the Patriots could create an army. They were people used to fighting Native Americans and often didn't follow military rules but were effective with a gun. They were the first soldiers on the fields for the Patriot side of the war.
