What is the purpose of americanization is tough on macho?

According to Rose del Castillo Gilbaut in her article Americanization Is Tough On Macho there are fundamental differences in the interpretation of the word macho between Hispanics and the Americans. The Hispanic macho is mainly viewed as someone who has sense of responsibility, who values hard work, someone who is in charge of the family, as well who shows his strength trough simply being quiet. For Americans, macho represents a man, who is irresponsible, lazy and violent, who doesnt respect women as well is capable of causing physical pain.
