How did newspapers that used yellow journalism react when the USS Maine exploded in Cuba in 1898? They suggested that Spain should pay for the damages. They wanted President McKinley to begin talks with Spain. They blamed Spain for the explosion and called for the US to declare war. They warned against the US reacting too quickly.
