How did the revival of classical texts affect scholarship and societal and religious values?

During the Renaissance, the classical texts of the Greeks brought a new vision to the men of science and European society, recalling the classical arts, the avences in technology and medicine of the Greeks and other thinkers of the era of classical Greece. European society advanced and refined itself by being in touch with Greek philosophy and humanism, far from superstition and obscurantism.
