Most of the difference is about the Prophet's succession. After The Prophet's death, Sunnis wanted to elect a successor, but Shiites wanted the succession to stay within the prophet's family bloodline.
Also, Sunnis try to follow the prophet's way of life, or the 'Sunnah' and Shiites don't.
