How did the invention of the cotton gin affect plantation owners?

    The cotton gin made cotton production much faster and simpler for plantation owners. It instantly removed the seeds from the cotton plant. Before it had been invented, slaves spent hours separating the seeds from the plant.

    The machine was invented by Eli Whitney in 1794. The Cotton Gin hugely affected plantation owners in the way that it was now faster to produce cotton. The cotton gin made it very easy to remove the seeds within the cotton plants.
