What was the significance of george kennan's long telegram?

    It was significant because it presented to the United States government how the Soviet government worked and what policies they implemented and thus sparked the policy of containment from the United States. Because of the telegram, the next forty years of American diplomacy towards the Soviet Union was led the way that it was throughout the cold war.
