The suburbs changed during the 1920's because they experienced high growth due to better transportation that was available at the time and it became cheaper to live in suburbs. For the first time in the 1920's, more American's lived in large cities than they did on farms. The country experienced a huge growth an the total wealth doubled between the years of 1920-1929. This pulled most Americans into a consumer society that was very unfamiliar to them.

They grew because they had better transportation and it was cheap.

Before the development of new transportation methods, most people choose to reside in the city because it is closer to where the job opportunities were exist.'

After the creation of transportation system, many people who held jobs at the city could afford to live on the suburb and communte everyday.
