John Foster Dulles was the Secretary of State under President Eisenhower. Eisenhower being a General had loads of military expertise and the two worked very closely together to create a policy on communism. Both were anti-communistic and together created a policy of containment. The Eisenhower Doctrine stated the US would provide economic and/or military aid to a country if they are attacked by an aggressive country. Aggressive countries were communist countries and the goal was to stop communism from spreading.
