The part of Napoleon's French Empire that was lost due to the Congress of Vienna was the Austrian Empire, Italy. The Congress of Vienna was a meeting which included ambassadors from European states and was chaired by Klemens Von Matternich, the statesman from Austria. It was held in November from 1814 through June of 1815.

After the congress of Vienna, Napoleon was forced to give back all countries that he had won during his wars and to revert the state back to the borders of 1789. This meant that the Austrian Empire, Germany, and Italy, now went back as they were before Napoleon conquered them and annexed them to his great French Empire. It also enabled the creation of other independent kingdoms that had historically belonged to the territory of Austria or Germany and which now became sovereign states.
