Why did the authors of the confederation create a weak central government

    To prevent power from being directed to a single branch of government.

    They gave power solely to the states and each states acted as its own form of government. The states had power to tax and create currency for example. Since the British government took away the colonists power and freedom, the new government was to have only the peoples need
