As a consequence of the Dawes Act, by 1900, American Indians

-had gained more land than they held in 1881.

-had lost half the land they held in 1881.

-had lost all the land they held in 1881.

-had kept all of the land they held in 1881

Because of the Dawes Act, Native Americans lost half of the land they owned. In 1881, Native American land ownership was 150 million acres. In fact, by 1900, that had depleted to 78 million acres. Their lands continued to diminish and by the 1930s Native American ownership was around 50 million acres.
