Do you think the final version of the US Constitution created a political system that gives too much, too little or just enough power to the central government? why?

The Constitution was written to strengthen the federal government because the Articles of Confederation were not strong enough to enforce the collection of taxes from the states and the new government could not pay off its massive Revolutionary War debt. All of this is written in primary documents written by the Founders and Framers themselves. My favorite quote is from James Madison (AKA Father of the Constitution) who hoped that the new document would "keep the states from spinning out of orbit".

Because of its weak financial position and lack of a central government, the Founders were afraid that the new states wouldn't remain unified and that the new US would end up being partitioned by Spain, France and England. The Netherlands was also a big US creditor having run arms, powder and supplies to the colonies through its west indies islands against an English embargo. It's not mentioned much in history classes but it was very much touch and go during the early years and no one was sure the new country was going to survive intact.
