Books and missionaries - - Evangelism grew out of the Great Awakening in the 1740s.

Evangelists used books created in England to spread the Protestant teachings. White Protestants taught blacks through missions to plantations. The use of revivals spread the message to whites. This method was especially impactful for Methodists who grew to larger numbers in the US during the first and Second Great Awakenings.

Evangelism used epistles and missionaries. Epistles are letters like Paul writting letters to the Romans, to the Corinthians and so on. Missionaries are people who brave the unknown to spread the good news to unbelievers.
